I am Nowhere and It's Now
Humans have transformed the landscape into a collage of structures and shapes, a clutter of imagery constantly shifting but always following a universal visual code. This code develops from our shared experiences of navigating through the urban environment and the constructions we impose on our surroundings. The symbols contained in my work are expressive of this shared code, while also showing humankind’s complete dominance over the landscape and the lives contained therein. Moving from home to car to building, humans isolate themselves in structures and blanket the environment with their own conveniences. Through my video, I have created a map of this urban landscape as I attempt to rationalize the city space, with its shapes crowding my vision of nature.
